As a keen shot and fisherman, I design my products to be practical
with pleasing aesthetics. All my leather goods are made in England in
the traditional way, using traditional materials. Consequently, I sell
sporting accessories that outlast cheaper alternatives and are a joy
to own.
I am particularly interested in vegetable tanned leather. Hide was virtually
100% vegetable tanned before the 2nd world war. Consequently, it gained
a pleasing patina with use, handled pleasurably and smelt of leather.
Today, leather is virtually all chrome tanned. This results in leather
that is usually stiff, looks permanently like plastic and invariably
doesn't even smell of leather, but it is cheap and quicker to produce!
